The world is changing fast, economically, politically, socially and environmentally, increasingly people are marginalised and side-lined.
But never has the social sector been more needed than today.
We need to start doing things differently, adapting to survive and thrive. Social Sector Support will help with new ideas, fresh thinking and new problem solving techniques.
About
I help people working in social sector organisations feel supported, inspired, connected and provide relevant knowledge in short bite-sized sessions.
After 20 years of experience in a wide variety of social sector organisations, I am launching a new service to support the passionate people and organisations striving to make our world a better place. This has been carefully designed as a direct response to the current challenges and the rapidly evolving environment that organisations are currently working in.
I am a qualified trainer and I am about to complete a Masters of Business Administration giving me detailed experience of business tools in the context of the social sector. It draws on my previous experience leading learning sessions for Derbyshire Voluntary Action. These popular sessions, welcomed over 893 participants and resulted in 97% of organisations agreeing that the sessions were useful and that their new-found knowledge was used to benefit the organisation that they work for.
The WHY
I LOVE the social sector. I firmly believe that it has a huge role to play in making the world a fairer and kinder place. It provides an opportunity for us all to make a difference to the world, a chance to choose, every single day what kind of world we want to be in and build for the future. The traditional shape of our society with divisions between state and corporations leaves an enormous gap for individuals and communities. Community activity can often provide more specialised, more individual and more effective interventions for people. Community action can bring real change on topics overlooked by governments, or be effective in holding governments to account. We are part of a long tradition of change-makers and will continue to be so.
